Had the burning woman and dynamite rolls! Bravo! While we were there, 3 tables around us ordered that roll so that will tell you something! I lile the atmosphere too. Me and my man enjoyed ouselves! Service started a little slow, that is why I am giving it 4 stars, but they eventually got to us. Also, would like to see more mixed drinks available on the menu.

I really like the sushi bar, the seaweed soup is delicious I never thought I would like it. It's expensive as hell (I didn't pay for it... But still!) I rarely say this, but the money is worth it.

I'm surprised I haven't reviewed Little Tokyo before, because I used to come here a lot. It's been a while, though, and last week was the first time I've ever been here for lunch. And the first time I've done hibachi instead of a normal table. Overall, the lunch experience we had the other day was pretty underwhelming. The hibachi chef kept dropping stuff, which is totally fine (everybody screws up sometimes), but was a little bit awkward and embarrassing. Fortunately, no one caught fire. At least, not while we were there. We sat at a table with a bunch of random strangers, so you don't have to have a certain number of people to do hibachi, as long as you don't mind sharing a table. It's also possible to order sushi off the regular menu if you don't want hibachi, which is what I did. They have a great cucumber salad (though this time there weren't enough sesame seeds), and the salmon sashimi I ordered was wayyyy more than I could manage. An order of 2-4 pieces would've been enough, but this was close to triple that amount. The service wasn't horrible, but it took a while to get our check, and they never picked up the dirty dishes, so we had to stare at the post-meal carnage the whole time we waited for our server to re-appear, and waited some more for her to bring us the check. Next time I come here, I think I'll go back to my usual dinner in the not-hibachi room plan, and see if it's what I remember. If it's not, I probably wouldn't bother to come back.

Went here surprisingly for the first time the other night, as I couldn't bring myself to do Hoshun one more time. For $17.95, I got the beef terriyaki and sahsimi dinner platter, which included salad, soup, rice. They included a good amount of sashimi and the beef was pretty tasty. I also hear that their location Uptown on South Carrolton is open super late. Looks like Hoshun finally has a replacement!

We just had a late valentines lunch at the Mid-City Little Tokyo. We tried several 'new things' some were amazing, some we won't bother with next time. I was intrigued by the Tapas menu on the front page and will try more the next time I am in here. There were loads of things that sounded good, but I ended up getting the special salad trio with wasabi seaweed salad, a special cucumber & squid salad and a DEE-licious salmon and mango salad. I could have stopped there, but we were starving when we walked it the door and we order too much. We also got the squid steak, the sauce was so flavorful, but it was cut into rings and not very steak like. We order the shrimp gyoza, pan fried. They were OK, but not my favorite thing, will skip that one next time. The crunchy dynamite roll was just wonderful, but by this point I am about to explode...box please!! My partner ordered the sesame chicken appetizer and some hibachi rice as an entree. The rice was 'not really what she expected' and the sesame chicken was closer to fried chicken nuggets. Lesson learned... Our waitress was a little dingy, but efficient, we ordered way too much food, but now we have some yummy stuff in the fridge for late night snacking.

This Little Tokyo location seems pretty dull from the outside, but parking is easy. The inside is beautifully lit, and they seem to typically be over-staffed. Service is quick, friendly, and not intrusive. The sushi rolls are great, as is the nigiri. They offer the standard selection and their selection of house selections. The girlfriend loves their tuna and chips appetizer, but it's not a personal favorite. While a bit on the higher end, the Hibachi service is an entertaining show. Overall, it's a great place to grab a moderately priced dinner. The prices are fairly high, and their offerings can be overwhelming at times. On our last visit my girlfriend and I received a total of six menus.

I give up on this place. The food has always been pretty good but I'm exhausted with the service. Very slow and not friendly (except for the hostess).

Agedashi tofu, sake, miso, a roll, and conversation. It's higher-quality than most sushi joints here, it's not going to blow your mind all Jiro Dreams of Sushi style, but it's just what you expect. Servers are sweet and accommodating.

I've driven by this restaurant many times but decided to drop in for lunch with a few friends. I had one of the lunch specials - clear soup, chicken teriyaki, chicken rice (yes, I like chicken :)) and a small salad; my friends had the Chef's Special salad and tuna rolls - plenty of delicious food for a good price. Our waiter was very attentive and even brought us warm hand towels prior to our meal. It's a nice quiet spot for a date or for catching up with a few friends over good Japanese food.

This is the second Little Tokyo I've been to, and unfortunately not my favorite for a couple reasons. If I were basing my review only on the quality of the sushi they served, it would absolutely a five-star review. It was really tasty, and both my girlfriend and I were pleased with the variety of both complex and simple things we ordered. However, the service was iffy. For instance, we got the wrong two rolls initially, but since we'd ordered five different ones, we didn't really notice. While they eventually caught this mistake and didn't charge us for the ones we didn't order, it was still disappointing. Beyond this, our service was extremely adequate, nothing to exciting or anything. Lastly, the atmosphere just made me feel extremely out of place. I don't know if it was the crowd (which seemed to be either middle aged couples or high schoolers) or what, but for some reason the whole time I felt uncomfortable. This isn't something I've experienced at a restaurant in New Orleans no matter the price range or type of food, so I figured I should mention it, as it was a formative part of my dining experience.

Went to Little Tokyo last night for sushi. Service was good, quick at getting anything we requested. The sushi was just alright though... a lot of reasonably priced options, but when we ordered our rolls, none of them stood out. Just not particularly delicious or creative (specifically, the House Special roll was disappointing). However, the rolls were a very good size (8 size-able pieces for some, 6 large pieces for other rolls), so I think there is good value in that. The atmosphere was also a bit odd, we were in a dining room to the left with very quiet music, so you could hear everyone else's conversations, and felt like you had to speak in a hushed voice. Not a very fun environment. Overall, Little Tokyo was fine, but there are so many other, more creative places to get sushi in New Orleans! (Kyoto, Origami, Sushi Bros..)

The menu is EXTENSIVE (and appears to vary from location to location). The Dinner Combinations are an amazing deal! All Dinner are served with clear soup, house salad and steam rice. I had the Sashimi & Teriyaki Chicken 17.00 (Sashimi, Crabstick, Salmon, Octopus, Tuna, Yellowtail and White fish with Teriyaki Chicken). It also came with pickled cucumbers and fresh fruit. Highly recommended, fresh, and definitely enough food for 2! I will definitely be back and would love to try more on the menu!

One of my favs in NOLA - great sushi bar service and appetizers - love the little salad. [EDIT] They longer serve the sushi bar appetizers. I normally go just to sit at the bar because it's tucked away in the back. Food is always consistent and tasty. I went with some friends on New Years Eve and we sat at the one of the hibachi tables. The guy preparing our food was very entertaining. Staff is always friendly. Restaurant is always clean.

The burning man roll is pretty and darn tasty. Service has always been good and the private karaoke rooms are a blast. We've a monthly date with friends here for some time and have always had a good experience. I've never been wowed by their sashimi but the rolls are consistently good.

The food is wonderful, always enjoy it. The service, however, is terrible. Consistently. It's ridiculous. We go here often because we regularly go to events at Carrollton Station, and the location is convenient, and we really enjoy the food, but the service is just not good. We always hope for improvement, but nothing yet. We're about to give up and go somewhere else for our weekly night out. The one time we went with a large group it was a total train wreck. They had no idea what anyone ordered (even though you fill out a check list), and they didn't really seem to care about taking care of us. We had to complain to the manager several times.

My girlfriend mentioned that she thought the sushi at the mid city location is better than the one in Metairie. I tend to agree, but the sushi at either location is perfection. Although I generally judge all sushi off the sushi brothers standard, this place blazes its own trail. They have spicy edamame that is delectable - spicy garlicky, warm and sooo good. The service is excellent - fast and friendly. You must try the burning man and the chocolate city roll. They are not on the menu but are truly phenomenal. They have a fema roll like sushi bros, but I wouldn't waste my time with it because it really doesn't compare. I am not a big fan of the blackjack roll. If you eat like my friends and I do, you stand to drop a little cash at Little Tokyo, but I think it is worth it. Their sushi rice is PERFECT and their rolls huge. The ambiance in the dining room is swanky, relaxing, and even romantic. Basically, it makes sushi bros look like burger king in comparison. I always ask for the corner table, nestled in a little nook with decadent upholstered benches and candlelight. A great place for a date!

  • Connie C.

HUGE PORTIONS for a reasonable price. The fish in the sushi are cut into huge slabs so each roll is quite filling. The lunch tempura bento box combination is good for lunch and leftovers for dinner.

Awesome Sushi! I've been here several times and never disappointed! They also have a Habichi bar, which is always entertaining on those boring nights. Sashimi is always fresh! Roll to try: Little Tokoyo and Mid-City Rolls

  • Megan K.

Pretty good sushi. I'm giving three instead of four stars because it felt and little "chainy", like, a stale sort of atmosphere, yet still nice. Had a long list of unique sushi rolls and I love how every local place in New Orleans incorporates crawfish into many of their roles which they did here as well. There were also many roles named after local favorites, events and places which was cute. Didn't try anything else on the menu besides the rolls, but the ingredients tasted very fresh, the different combinations in the rolls all worked very well and weren't very traditional but very tasty. Also, friendly service.

My fave in town for sushi. Used to like Horinoya best, but surly service put me off. Shogun is good, but it's in Metrie (and freezing-- turn the AC down!) Anyway, Little Tokyo has an extensive menu with usual choices and then some, including an interesting twist on gumbo-- a miso soup base w softshell crab if I remember correctly. Since I'm a Mid-City gal, I'm happy to find a sushi spot by me!

    (4)
  • Lester M.

Former site of a Shoney's, this is one of my favorite sushi spots in mid-city. I once had a seafood soup which reminded me of an Asian version of gumbo. The sushi is always fresh, the service friendly, though sometimes you have to track your server down in the large multi-room layout. Not cheap but for the quality of the food a good deal.

Today was a friend's birthday which we had reserved a hibachi table for. We had a party of 10 and reservations for 2:30pm. Everyone arrived promptly and we were seated immediately. However, the hostess didn't seem too friendly nor did she greet us. I'm a stickler for great & friendly service. Once we were all finally seated, we prepared to place our drink & food order. The drinks came out in a timely manner but by the time they were ready for our lunch orders, I was starving! Not to mention, they didn't seem ready to get started on cooking till they had more guests (that were not in our party) join our table. I'm pretty sure they were trying to stall us. Granted, they're a business and they're trying to make the most profit by accommodating as many customers as possible. However, I felt that it was unfair that they were trying to keep us from eating just to fill 4 more seats, especially when the other guests came in nearly half an hour after us. Either that or they were waiting to charge us the dinner price which started at 3pm. I actually had the filet mignon with the vegetable fried rice and a side order of scallops. The hibachi chef put on a decent show, although I've been more entertained at others. Food was pretty good even though it was a bit more on the greasy side. The biggest problem we encountered was the fact that they attempted to bring us our check and get us to leave in a quick and rude manner. It was quite obvious that they wanted us to hurry up and leave to seat another table. I then learned that they had somehow booked another reservation after us for 4pm. Again, I understand that this is a business and they are trying to make room for everyone BUT they should be smarter about booking reservations on top of one another, especially for larger parties. We barely had time for cake or to drink the sake which we had ordered. All I know is, I don't like to be rushed when I'm trying to enjoy my meal and time with my company.

Their sushi is great and their dinners are even better. The food was so fresh and delicious, our service was great. You get a lot of food with your order, so unless you want a lot of leftovers, I suggest ordering less or sharing. We will definitely be back!

So... I've been to TONS of hibachi Japanese restaurants, and as much as I wanted to love this place it only gets three stars for two reasons. One, the "upscale" feel of this place is only a front. The prices are waaaay too high for the quality of the food. Two, although we were there late... the bathroom was DISGUSTING. There was no toilet paper in either stalls; instead it was all over the bathroom floor along with water and who knows what else. On a side note... The guys that work there are SUPER nice! I hate leaving a bad review because the chef was super cool and our server was a genuinely nice guy and fun to talk to. However, the experience was overall very mediocre and definitely not worth the price tag. Won't be returning.

This part of Carrollton needs more restaurants like this. Hell, the whole city could use more restaurants like this. The atmosphere is modern and tasteful, dark, cool, and pleasant, though the design seems to be trying a little too hard for cool. That's not really a bad thing; it's endearing rather than offensive (If it matters, they seem to have gotten the music thing under control. Again, it's more funny than off-putting). If you can't be bothered to read the whole review, I'll give you the takeaway message right now: order a big Sapporo draft (or Kirin Ichiban if that's your thing) and a couple or three of the small plates. You will enjoy it. Bring friends so you can trade bits of the appetizers. If you're still hungry, order some of the killer noodles. Maybe the sushi's good, maybe it isn't. I haven't bothered to find out because the rest of it is great. Detail-wise: the gyoza are rich, redolent little pockets of juicy flavor that come with a great citrus sauce for dipping. It's not the overpowering raw soy flavor most places give you. The takoyaki are intriguing, with an internal texture that's somewhere between a pancake and a set custard, spiked with bits of meaty, chewy octopus and topped with the deep ocean funk of katsuoboshi. The seaweed salad is redolent of sesame oil and has a satisfying crunch. Also, try some of the fried skewers. I got the pork, which was crunchy on the outside and came with tonkatsu sauce, which is sort of what you'd get if barbecue sauce and ketchup gave birth to a talented and delicious child. I can't imagine that they're any less talented at skewering and frying (or grilling) other things. And if you're still hungry, there are noodles in abundance, and good noodles. The ramen, if you're used to packets, will be revelatory (though it's not the best I've ever had, I eat it happily). It's rich and filling, coming in head-sized bowls. Even better is the yakisoba, a hot fried noodle dish that came out steaming and savory, with the meaty, slightly charred flavor that would, in Chinese cuisine, be called wok hee. It's like what you wish lo mein could be. The food's great, the beer is cold and appropriate to the food. There are even karaoke rooms you can rent. What's not to like?

Props for being open on Monday. We sat at the sushi bar and were given two salads, I guess they were complimentary because we didn't order them. This turned out to be my favorite thing. Greens topped with some seaweed salad, squid and fried onions? I don't know but it was delightful and way better than the weird and heavily-mayonnaised salad they give you at Mikimoto. We ordered yellowtail, tuna and escolar by the piece. Yellowtail is usually my favorite but this did not have a good taste. BBQ yellowtail had no sauce and tuna-avocado was very skimpy on the avocado. We also had the seafood salad and it was very generous and tasty by the end but initially not so good because the sauce was all at the bottom and it wasn't tossed. They have a ton of specialty rolls, which is cool but I found it overwhelming, we ordered the Burning Man, which never came and I didn't mind at all because I was so full. Overall, it was ok, not awful, but can't hold a candle to my NOLA favorite, Horinoya. Also, they use the nasty, dyed Pepto-Bismol pink ginger, why does ginger need to be dyed? My final gripe, they don't seem to season their rice and it's very plain. But hey, they're open Mondays and do karaoke so I'll probably be back. Next time I will try the ramen, which I have heard is really good.

Pretty damn good for the price. Not fancy. Ample selection. Solid sushi. I wasn't crazy about the mayo-heavy dressing on the sashimi salad- especially after specifically asking the sushi chefs if the dressing contained mayo in order to avoid it- but it didn't ruin the meal. There seemed to be a bit of a language barrier so I'll know to make it clearer next time. Also, it tends to be really cold in there so bring a light sweater if you're the type of person who gets cold when you go places.

If you're looking for a sushi place in Mid-City, this is the place to go! I was impressed with the delicious miso soup, the prompt and polite service, and the high quality of the sushi. A very good sushi option if you're not willing to drive uptown, out to Metairie, or to Covington.

I've been here 3 or 4 times (always got hibachi) and have never gotten a bad meal or bad service. As I said, the service is good and the chefs I've had were pretty funny and personable. There's plenty of parking. The hibachi is so tasty--not too salty or greasy like some hibachi places where it practically slides down your throat from the overload of butter--AND they don't throw food at your mouth, which is a big bonus as far as I'm concerned. (Okay, I know some people find that fun, but it usually ends up landing on and staining my clothes or landing in my hair...not appealing to me.) I'm not a big sushi eater, but the crunchy rolls are awesome. The only negative I've ever had here is that the rolls were cut way too big. I felt like a chipmunk when I tried to eat one. They should make them a reasonable size so that you can actually get one into your mouth without having to bite it into two pieces, which leads to messy results.

Super fresh sushi that gets flown in straight from Japan every Thursday. Decor inside is a little weird, the tables for two are too big. The sushi and tempura lunch special is huge and a great value.

This is my favorite Japanese Restaurant in the city! The food is great! The Chocolate City roll is my favorite! It's probably one of the least expensive sushi places in comparison to close by Japanese restaurants. Their uptown location on Carrollton stays open til 2am! The service isn't spectacular so I'd recommend sitting at the sushi bar! Still my favorite!

    (4)
  • Joey L.

Pretty badass! Totally affordable (but not cheap, per se), the food is well-done standard Japanese fare, nice local twists on sushi (using crawfish and such), and the hibachi is fantastic. They're lunch combo deals are the best bang for your buck.

My girlfriend and I stopped in here on a Saturday night around 8:30. The hostess gave us a lunch menu - that we couldn't order off of. The sushi was just okay. I had tempura chicken that came with a mystery sauce. There is much better sushi in New Orleans. I think our waiter forgot that he was a waiter. Service was slow. The restaurant has an identity crisis. There is a stage for karaoke and some disco-type lights. No one was singing on a Saturday night. Otherwise, the restaurant was low-lit, like it was trying to be a quiet, intimate restaurant. Nothing to write home about.

Having been to the one in Metairie and HUGELY disappointed by it, I was really hesitant to give it a try, so I didn't for a while, but upon realizing it was run by the same owner as the dearly departed Takumi (and has a couple of the same staff), I was very eager to give it a whirl. A good sign, of course, was that it came highly recommended to me from a few Japanese people. The decor, as mentioned in the previous review is a BIG improvement from the Metairie location. Very nice. There's a hibachi area too, but since I blocked out the memory of the causeway location, I can't remember if there was one there too. The food is comparable to Takumi in quality and price, but portion sizes are definitely bigger. I ordered what I usually would from Takumi thinking it would be the same meal, but I was stuffed after eating just one item. The Bye-Bye Katrina roll (formerly the Tchoupitoulas roll at Takumi) is definitely worth a try and is easily my favorite item on the menu. There's no free sake here like there was at Takumi, but the food is just as good, so I can excuse that!

Went to Little Tokyo for lunch today. As usual, the service is prompt and the special rolls are delicious. For starters we had the sea weed salad. We also each had a Sapporo (draft). For sushi, we had the Metairie Roll and Vegetable Roll - the veggie roll was ordered by accident. I put the check in the box on the wrong side of the page - oops! The waitress offered to bring us the correct roll - bye bye Katrina but we opted to keep what we had. Plenty of food for the two of us. We like this place. It's close to the house, the people are friendly and the price is right. One suggestion to anyone who visits - bring a jacket. It's freezing in there! Total cost (sans tip = $27).

One of my favorite regular places in NOLA. The Japanese food here is pretty good. I love their hibachi fried rice as well as most of their appetizers/small plates. The sushi is decent - though I probably wouldn't come here for that, I order a roll occasionally when I'm here. The atmosphere is really fun and casual, there's a full bar, and at night there is karaoke which is a good time. If you're drinking, try the girl scout cookie drink!! It's soooo yummy! Good, very reasonably priced, and reliable place for eating in or taking out.

I've been here several times. The staff is nice, the ambiance is relaxing, and the dining area can feel intimate. I've eaten at the sushi bar and even though the chef's are actively polite, I felt the sushi was on par with many of the other sushi establishments in New Orleans. Although I would still continue try their sushi rolls, what keeps me coming back are the delicious beef Yakisoba and the tall Sapporo draft beers. I'm not a fan of their seafood yakisoba, but the beef yakisoba is outstanding! If you are into sake, they have a large selection of cold and "gourmet" sakes to choose from. The scrumptious beef gyoza for the appetizer has never let me down. I checked in via Yelp app and asked about the $3 drink special. Unfortunately, they did not honor the special and indicated the special was probably at their other location on south Carrollton. Needless to say I was a little bummed. The usual Japanese restaurant, but when I'm craving Yakisoba, this is the only place where I go.

Had dinner here last night with a friend; it was delish! The thing I have learned about Little Tokyo is that you need to sit at the sushi bar. I have sat at tables and been disappointed, but never at the sushi bar. The sushi chefs are interesting and interact with you and tell you their favorites. The roll we loved last night was the Rice Crispy Roll; crab, shrimp, and more piled high upon a fried rice crispy sort of cracker. Unbelievably good. And the Nigiri unflitered Sake was just the right accompaniment. I would highly recommend Little Tokyo! Their website rocks too; littletokyonola.com

Let's be clear. This is my favorite place to get sushi in New Orleans. So why the 3 stars? It's only because sushi happens to be my absolute favorite type of food and this really doesn't compare to high quality sushi. But a consistent, good place in New Orleans? For sure. Sushi Rolls? Excellent. I like them better than Sake Cafe. I usually get something simple like the Metairie or Uptown Rolls. If all you usually order are sushi rolls, you should definitely eat here. You won't be disappointed! Nigiri Sushi? I've tried a few nigiri sushi, but was very disappointed (again, compared to good quality sushi). Hibachi? Never tried it, sorry. Conclusion: Little Tokyo has a nice, quiet atmosphere which allows for a nice conversation over dinner. Come here for the sushi rolls!

I had one of my best karaoke experiences here. Definitely rent a room and go all-out with your friends. The sushi was good enough (definitely better than some spots around here but maybe not up to par if you're from the Bay Area), and the curried fries looked like poo on fries but were the most delightful thing I had ever tasted. The service was super friendly and prompt and aided in the overall ridiculousness (in a good way) of the night.

I've enjoyed everything I've had here thus far and would love to continue to "try" my way through the menu.(A bit at a time, a girl can only do so much at once.) I'm loving the puns! Each experience there does not disappoint. And I liked the Gekkeikan Sake before the Saints started winning.

Great food, but more importantly, they have an awesome sake menu. There are many different types including an entire menu of infused sakes. I like the unfiltered sake infused with coconut and lemon grass.

Another Little Tokyo location (one of three - Causeway and soon to be Belle Chasse Hwy on the Westbank) - this one I guess occupied the former Chateau Briand???? Not too sure, but on to the review. Wow is this place such a huge upgrade from the Causeway location. Hardwood floors, deep red fabric walls w/ varying patterns, and decent chairs.... However, the inflated prices obviously go into paying for this restaurant....damn. Had the garlic seared tuna salad...it was so tiny and unflavorful like the Causeway location!!! Such a disappointment. FEMA roll was awesome - snow crab and salmon, asparagus, avocado, rice with spicy tuna on top in a soy wrap....soooo good! Metairie roll had snow crab and tuna with avocado and a sweet type of sauce on top...delicious! Uh..our server was awkward....not so attentive and very weird! His name is great though - Juanchu! Haha...great name man! Downside was we had to wait..no one was at the hosting table and we awkwardly stood there....hibachi is available....

When rating this restaurant, I almost gave it 3 stars because of the service. The service was OK, not the greatest. Having worked in the service industry for years, I am more understanding. The problem here though was they really had no excuse to be so unattentive with our table. The restaurant was not very crowded. It was as if they kept avoiding coming near us. Oh well, now to the food. We ordered miso, excellent...Shared some fried rice, also great. Their sushi list was very interesting. One of the specials (in Midcity) was a rice krispy crab cake...so if anything they are trying to experiment a little, which i admire. We were simple with our rolls and ordered the crunchy dynamite, midcity, and crawfish roll. My favorite of the three was the midcity roll. Little Tokyo will certainly see me again..

I did not have high expectations just seeing this place from the outside. I was very surprised at how nice the interior is and how good the food is. The atmosphere, food, and service all exceded my expectations. A very nice addition to the list of places I love in mid-city.

Lots of great food here. I am not a big fan of Japanese food, but this place serves really delicious foods. I will return.

I've been here about 5 times. Overpriced, rude, hibachi meat burned 4 out of 5 times. I will never waste my money and time there!

Nice sake selection and a good sushi menu. Last time I was here they did a custom for me. They also have other food selections as will if sushi isn't your thing. I always sit at the bar and service is easy. Indoor and outdoor seating pleases everyone :) I've had better, fresher sushi and salads but I paid more for them too. This is a good place for the price, especially the sake!

The hostess is garbage. She was on the phone, then when we sat down she made my elderly grandmother get up and move for some lady who wanted to sit alone on the side of the hibachi table- so that she could talk on her cell phone the whole time. Then when I asked to speak to the so called manager about the situation and how they treat people the manager yelled at me. If you want to run to the bathroom- have the sushi If you want over priced, rude service sit at the hibachi Screw this place. Don't bring your loved ones here if you are looking for service esp after they come out of the hospital wanting some miso soup.

The service was impeccable, and I would give our server an A+;we were attended to very well. This poor review is only about the food. Ordered the Beef Teriyaki tempura Combo. It's served on a long rectangular plate with pieces of fruit, to the left, tempura veg and shrimp stacked in the middle, and slices of beef with teriyaki sauce to the right. The fruit- had a tomato slice mixed in with grapes, oranges, melons, etc. i know that technically, tomatoes are fruits, but that's weird-I'm sorry. The tempura was heavily battered and did not have that light airy crispness that makes tempura...tempura. The ponzu tempura dipping sauce was watery and tasteless. The beef was 50+ shades of grey. I ALWAYS want my seared beef to to have the browned, yummy, "maillard" effect...it's so unappetizing "steamed" like hey had it. But the syrupy teriyaki sauce was brown enough....uh No. Sorry. Must be nice to have no completion and be the only (faux) Japanese place around.

Now they only deliver through Nola Delivery, which is a total shit show of a service. More on that in another review! And they charge an arm and a leg. Minus 1 star. Now I'm sitting at the bar, which smells musty. There is literally no sound but a background Tv playing a football game, the hum of the supposedly broken sake machine, and Catherine, the bartender bitching about everything and everyone around her. I asked if they ever played music and the bartender, said no, Little Tokyo has no WiFi because the owner won't pay for it. She'd love to play music but doesn't have the unlimited data to do that. While I do understand her pain, it makes for a pretty negative, crappy environment if the main ambience is just her bitching. I was really hungry and trying to treat myself after a rough week so I stayed. Even though the bartender ran out with a cigarette right after she dropped my food, I was still feeling hopeful about the Tokyo sampler salad. This new menu item is a bit of all the salads I enjoy: seaweed, poke, and the mango kimchi. It was delicious but it was the only good part of this dining experience. I'm hoping it was just a fluke but I'm kind of disappointed with everything overall.

Today I popped in here for the first time since my last review, which was 4 years ago, so I figured it was time for an update. We got there and the woman working the front was so nice and friendly. She immediately asked us if we wanted to sit at her favorite spot in the restaurant. We said "sure", and she lead us to a nice and cozy corner booth. It was delightful. We weren't super hungry, so we got the vegetarian special and a rainbow roll. The vegetarian special comes with three vegetarian rolls, one of which is an avocado roll, so I was a happy camper. The rainbow roll was super good and between the veg special and the rainbow roll we had more than enough for lunch. The waiter was very attentive and friendly throughout the entire meal and all in all we had a perfect lunch.

Sat in the bar and got great service. There is a very casual feel to the place and feel I would be comfortable after the gym or church. Prices were Chinese restaurant prices so, very reasonable and food to take home. Ginger salad dressing was somewhat watery so, maybe ask for dressing on the side. The fried tofu in broth got soggy very fast so maybe that on the dide too. Fish in the roll seemed fresh and the rice texture was perfect. I loved the sticky ribs!!!sticky sweet and scrumptious!!! The meat was falling off the bone and they were big ribs not the little tough red ribs you find in the Chinese restaurants.

What the hell, man?! This was my first meal in a long time that I felt like the chef was laughing at me while I walked out of the place with my teriyaki chicken. I come home, open it up, and BAM! A big plate of disappointment! Big pile of steamed rice and some dry ass flavorless chicken, and that was it! No veggies?! Nothing? Not even some damn salt? My wife got a log of something that looked like it rolled out of bed two days ago. I hope Godzilla makes a quick stop at 310 N. Carrollton before he heads over the Pacific to destroy the real Tokyo!

I love hibachi. I have eaten it just about everywhere it is offered in the area. This location of Little Tokyo is the best. The hibachi comes with noodles; hibachi rice is extra. The filet and the shrimp are delicious and the chefs are very good about not over cooking the meats. They let you share, but there is an extra $5 charge which includes an extra soup and salad. Everything is cooked in garlic butter. In my opinion, the liberal use of garlic butter is the deciding factor in the taste of hibachi. They get an A. The veggies are very well seasoned, but they do not include broccoli.

So the food here is very good. With that said I'm now going to write the most scathing review I've ever given. The one star is for the excruciatingly terrible service like several others have expressed. Like they must put on their craigslist ad, you must be a ginormous asshole to work here. The girls up front barely look at you let alone greet you when you walk in. The first few times I ate here the service was great so I kept returning. In the last 6 months it has gone down the toilet. Almost everyone I encounter is over the top rude and aloof and really seems like they could give a shit less. I order the same thing every time and every single time I'm charged a different price. It's never the same anymore. And tonight I was charged a whole dollar more than I normally am and the bartender who's a surly beast of a woman didn't give my husband back the coin part of the change bc they supposedly don't keep coins in their drawers? Okkkk, That's not the dumbest part of his encounter with her but when he asked for it, she rolled her eyes, made a huffing sound and said "um you actually want your change back." His reply, "yeah why are you acting like I'm the crazy one." Her behavior is atrocious as another reviewer already stated. My husband never ever complains about bad service and he was actually pissed off. And yes I've complained. Again like others, the manager could care less or she just defends the staff. They do not follow the philosophy of the customer is always right. In fact I'm pretty sure their mantra is the customer is NEVER right! I was thinking I could probably suck it up and order there again but after tonight they've lost yet another customer. To top it off there was a bug in my salad that I didn't see until I got to the bottom. I'm done!

My sister and I come here for hibachi every time she is in town, and we deliberately planned our day so that we could fit hibachi in. When we were seated, we saw that our favorite hibachi guy Calvin was nowhere to be seen. There was another guy working at a nearby table. I was instantly disappointed but I decided to give him a benefit of the doubt. When the server took our order, she was very much less than pleasant. It may just be that she is having a bad day at work but she made us feel like less than valuable customers. When she brought soup for everyone, she brought 4 first, even though there were 5 people at the table, then said that she would bring the last one, but I saw her bring someone a refill at a different table before coming back with the soup. Then the hibachi finally started. This guy spoke in a very heavy accent, I don't know if it's his normal accent or if it was fabricated. But he kept trying to make "Japanese jokes," calling soy sauce Japanese ketchup. And calling pretty much everything else Japanese something. He stopped his show to ask us, "What are you? Chinese? Japanese? Korean?" I know that older Asian folks can be pretty blunt but come on. What are you? Then he proceeded to burn all the food. And the zucchini and our seafood was bland. Then the server just dropped the check off at our table without us asking for it, before my sister was finished eating, and didn't make it a point to say "take your time" or anything. I can't do anything about crappy servers, but for hibachi I guess I need to call and check if Calvin is working.

I came here long ago with friends in a party-type atmosphere and wanted to return with afresh look on the food. I love my sushi, in fact you could say its an expensive addition of mine, so of course when I came back to Little Tokyo I specifically ask to be seated at the sushi bar (rule #1 of ordering proper sushi is NEVER sit at a table). The chef was a young Japanese bloke who certainly knew that I was interested in the fresh-catch quality and made me up one full order of omakase. What I got was interesting (you can see a photo I've attached), or shall we say, "non-traditional" omakase (rule #2 is always eat sushi immediately after its been plated, so as to eat it at optimum temperature the chef desires). Having sashimi, and ONLY sashimi at that, is a bit sceptical to look at on one gigantic platter. Perhaps the chef wanted to make the presentation more modern, or perhaps there wasn't any particularly good fish to promote that day. Whatever the actual reason is, what I received were some pieces which chewed like hard rubber and all the flavours which should be normally enjoyed separately were melting and mixing all together. I will say that I tried 2 new ways to eat sushi which I enjoyed; first was uni with lemon juice, next was raw prawn tails with yuzu sauce. Very unconventional but good. In hindsight I shouldn't have expected much from this place, with a young perhaps inexperienced chef, or from any other sushi place in this city. With all the hype New Orleans claims to be a "seafood capital," there is no actual fresh fish market anywhere for fishermen to sell directly to the public or discerning chefs. These sushi places have little choice but to buy frozen from a distributor, and that really is the antithesis of good sushi. I've lived here for many years and now if anyone asks, I will never describe NOLA as a haven for seafood; it simply has unique regional products like every city would. This place is exactly a three-star joint. It isn't Michelin quality nor does it try to be, and maybe some ambitious chefs are held back by NOLA's lack of good raw ingredients. The price for my unique omakase? A clean $70 (- tip)! Though as I was sitting alone and eating a platter of fish meant for 3 people, they gave me my green tea for free. Ball'n.

I can honesty say that I enjoy hibachi a lot more than the average person. Little Tokyo had always been my favorite place in the city, until today. I was finally able to experience their lunch and the service was terrible to say the least. We arrive just after 1pm and were seated right away at a table along with 2 other people. It took about 20 minutes just to place our orders and get waters. We expected a little wait because they always have to fill up the table, but an hour and a half later.... We were still waiting for our hibachi experience to start. We talked to the manager and she was very unbothered by this. We told her that the hostess said their were 2 chefs. She said yes but after 2pm, there is only one. What?!! We have been here since 1! So we were forced to wait even longer since there was only one chef. When we did get out food, it was fine. But definitely not worth the two hours it took out of my day. We received no apology and no discounts.

I like this one the best out of the 3 location I have gone to. It's cleaner and nicer looking then the other 2. The food is good and prices are reasonable. They have pretty good happy hours also. However , I don't think they separate rooms for karaoke. It looks like a big ole room where everyone can see. But I could be wrong. I just never see anybody sings there.

I'm probably not the best person to review a sushi place as I love any sushi place that doesn't make me sick. But, Little Tokyo has become my neighborhood sushi restaurant because it's reasonably priced, close by and has a good selection of both traditional sushi and custom rolls. I've eaten there several times in the past few years and it's always been delicious, creative and the service is excellent!

I usually like this place but to right I ordered a couple of rolls for takeout. They forgot the eel sauce - a crucial ingredient for one of the rolls I ordered. When I called to ask if they could do anything to make it up they simply said "No, we don't really do anything like that." Really? That's your Custer service policy? To just "not do anything"?? I would have been happy with $2 off my next order or a free beer next time I stop in. But instead they preferred no action whatsoever. Yeah I know its just sauce, but its still a missing part of my order. And to plainly say they won't do anything - to not even TRY, that just ain't really cool. Yahmean?

Hibachi, Hibachi, Hibachi!! Man, a meal and a floor show, how could you possibly go wrong! Every aspect of this was amazing! The Scallops are beautiful, and so big! The fried rice is not too greasy, and cooked there in front of your watchful eye. I did feel a little on the spot being flung ingredients like a trained seal, but I caught the shrimp and honked my little horn like a good circus performer. And this is what makes Hibachi so much fun, isn't is.. the crowd participation. You get a show that you also get to be a part of. Although a little bit pricy, it is a must do for any important occasion, Weddings, anniversary, Birthday, Bris (Maybe not, shellfish) but you get the point. Whereas the Little Tokyo in Uptown is my go-to place for Ramen, this place blows the doors off with the "Super-Happy-Fun-Time-Hibachi!" And that's my take on this joint.. See you there! B.E.D.

  • Shannon S.

Probably the best Little Tokyo location I've been to so far. Larger portions and better service seem to characterize this spot. The ambiance doesn't really scream sushi joint and is more generic restaurant. Quick and easy spot to grab some food at a decent price and all day happy hour on Sundays.

  • Shannon M.

Looks like a wonderful place to chill and enjoy the selections of the bar. A sort of secret get - a-way. Lite jazz music sets the pace. Love the vibe here. Walked to the restroom and realized the place has a Hibachi area as well as a regular dining area. Even more cozy in the back dining area. I will return again to take in more of the positive energy of this establishment.

Forget The Pearl in Lakeview! Drive the extra five minutes to Mid-City and come here! Food is way better! Not only that, but I feel like the portions are doubled in size compared to The Pearl!

  • Nina S.

Score! Looking in Lakeview? Found Great sushi! Fresh, large portions at reasonable enough prices that you can be a regular and not break the bank. Dreaming of their tropical roll as we speak: Tons of salmon with fresh mango and what I would say is a mango-habanero sauce...yum!

Our waitress was a zombie. Don't ask for anything that's not as listed on the menu, no exceptions. All we got was no, no, no. That was from the kitchen as our waitress barely spoke. Rude, not accommodating in the least. Won't be back. Gave 1 star because you have to give at least one.

  • Gene J.

This place was recommended by a family friend, so we decided to meet up. They were running late so the rest of us decided to order appetizers but when it was time the waitress said to hold on 5 times. The waitress told us that since half our party wasn't there that we were slowing her down. She couldn't even get the orders of the other tables right!!! I knew it wasn't going to be a good experience because I asked for sweet tea and she just said NO. She didn't even try to give an alternative. If you can't put the fake smile on as a waitress you are in the wrong business. We walked out and decided to give our business to some other restaurant.

One of my favorite sushi restaurants. The absolute best? No. Consistently good? Yes. Here, you can always count on good sushi, good service and a nice, quiet atmosphere. A little higher priced than most others but you're paying for the nice atmosphere. In an area of Mid City where parking is at a premium now but rarely have trouble finding a parking space at the height of the lunch hour.

Ate here a few times, but only had sushi. But today, we decided to have hibachi. It was my first time having hibachi here and let me tell you, everything was just salty. Hibachi was the last meal I ate today because after having that, I have been feeling sick. Very nauseated. I've eaten at many hibachi places and I've had better, even the bad hibachi places I ate tasted better than here. It was so salty, it looked like I barely even touched my food. The sushi is good here But I can get the same exactly thing else where for a cheaper price, and that goes for hibachi too.

Now I understand why people say they wish Yelp had half stars. I would give them 3.5 stars but hey let's round up shall we! I haven't been to this location in a few years after an Endymion parade and traffic was crazy and it threatened to rain so my old high school friends and I took cover and had dinner here (not last year when I only went to Muses with my best friend/bro and the nieces and boycotted the rest of Mardi Gras). After this visit I shall have to come back more often. This is my neighborhood sushi joint. Usually the only Little Tokyo I would go to is the Uptown one with the karaoke rooms. Hey, I'm Filipino and we love to karaoke! This restaurant is located in a multi office complex and they are in the far right corner facing the building. Since my friend and I went on a random Thursday evening it wasn't too crowded. There are choices to eat at one of the hibachi tables (must try when I'm with a big group), at the sushi bar, and in the dining area. As you can see with the pictures I uploaded the restaurant is divided into two rooms with the hibachi tables and sushi bar straight ahead and a well appointed dining area to the left. Future boyfriend of mine, this would be a great place for a date because it's an upscale looking joint. Although there was a dad with three small kids behind us, they were pretty well behaved and the rest of folks were adults. I kinda wanted to try the kids desserts which appeared to be a huge sundae and some fried cheesecake concoction perhaps? My friend and I both ordered miso soup and it was nice and tasty with the cool evening. I had green tea and it came in a beautiful clay mug that I could wrap both my hands around. Their Shu Mai had either crab or shrimp and I went for something new and tried crab. It was meh, next time I'll try the shrimp. It was off though too bc they didn't being a sauce and ya'l know I love me some sauces! So the nice waiter Barry explained that people usually use soy sauce but kindly brought me another sauce. I asked for recommendations in rolls since usually the waiter/waitress knows what's good in the restaurant. So Barry doesn't raw fish so be recommended the Poboy roll which had tempura dodgeball crab, shrimp etc. and it was absolutely divine! We also had the Philadelphia roll Wu in was yummy, love that cream cheese! And my stand by when I'm trying to be healthy, a rainbow roll. Looks I found my local sushi joint! Took a menu to go, wish they delivered! Happy Sushi eating!

The prices are reasonable but I wouldn't mind paying a few more dollars if the sushi were a bit fresher. We went basic with the spicy tuna roll and the dynamite crunchy roll. Both seemed like they were made with a few days old ingredients. Not the worst I've had but certainly not the best. The seared tuna salad with avocado came in chunks of tuna rather than slices. The tuna was probably the best dish of them all. It was disappointing given the proximity this place is to my house. Likely won't be back.

I am rating this establishment one star because we were not acknowledged as customers. They are closed however when my family and I walked up, we saw about 3 employees and they all saw us. We attempted to open the door and there is no sign showing the hours of operations. I understand that they are closed but if you see customers at your door, common courtesy is to just say hey we are closed we open in 30 minutes or something. But to literally just walk passed the front door and keep walking after making eye contact with us is just rude and not proper customer service. If it was not for my husband insisting we eat here for lunch, I would have left.

Recently I had planned a Friday night in AND then the power went out, so I gave Vicky a shout and we hightailed it to Mid-City in search of food & A/C. And this is where we ended up. I think this is the 3rd or 4th restaurant I've eaten at in this location since the building was constructed (including a Shoney's in HS). The layout is odd since you have to choose the dining room or bar as you walk in. Maybe I would choose the bar next time. We tried a couple of different rolls and some old standbys. The sushi and edamame were fine, The standout was the delish Louisiana roll, spicy crawfish with a pickled okra. Seriously GENIUS. The meh was the blue crab mango roll. Like Kanno a couple of weeks before, the blue crab was dry and did not taste fresh. My guess is that it had been frozen... I would definitely go back for the Louisiana Roll and sit in the other room (closer to Bienville) to see if that atmosphere is better.

Absolutely awful. Low quality ingredients. Instant indigestion. Avoid at all costs. Ate lunch here today with a friend. Service was fine. Chicken katsu rice bowl tasted terrible. I feel sick. I wish I'd sent it back to the kitchen instead of doling out cash for it. Meat tasted low-grade, it wasn't fresh and had zero flavor. You'd need to be drunk to enjoy Little Tokyo.

Wandered into Little Tokyo at about 4pm ....odd time, not really lunch or dinner, but I wanted sushi stat. The hostess was really nice and asked us if we wanted to sit in the restaurant area or hibachi. This restaurant is divided into 3 sections: the hibachi, the restaurant and the bar. Didn't get to see the bar but the other 2 areas looked nice. The restaurant was much fancier than I had imagined....white tablecloths, nice decor. When we sat down, the server brought over warm hand towels, which was a great touch. The places was completely empty, probably because of the time of the day. We ordered the crunchy dynamite roll, California roll and the carrollton roll. All three were fabulous. If I had to be nit picky, I feel the crunchy and California rolls weren't rolled tightly but they tasted good. The carroltlon roll was too big for a single bite which meant I had to bite into it 1-3 times....which is sorta ehhh. It also came with a sweet chilli sauce, which was literally Maggie sweet chilli sauce from the bottle dumped into a dish. Their menu is huge- much more than sushi. I'm a bit skeptical of places that have a large amount of items on the menu because I feel like the quality decreases. Not sure if that is the case here but can't wait to return and try more food here. Oh, and yay for clean restrooms :)

This place is OK - definitely a place I will visit if I cannot get to my other sushi spots. Something about it just did not make me DAZZLE and do the "SPIRIT FINGERS" when I left there... The food was not bad; the food was not superb: the food was - Good. Not much else to say - see?

I love this place and think it's sometimes gets a bad rap from Sushi snobs. Full disclosure: I used to love Oki Nago Japanese Buffet in Metairie. Like, I LOVED that place. I'm not scared to eat a Sushi buffet if I think it's good. And for the most part, I loved that place. All that being said, Mikimoto is and will always be my favorite. Ninja is just OK now. Great prices. Quick in-and-out lunch service. Quality is most always spot on. I've also noticed an improvement in the wait staff in the last year or so. They used to be horrid. Now they are pretty darn good. I usually get the Assorted Sashimi lunch entree. Yesterday I also got the salmon skin salad and it was delicious, with a copious amount of cucumbers.

The place is good and food was good as well. But the only complain I have is that they do not do individualized bill and as we had a big group of 12 people. It got really complicated to calculate the bill. It totally ruined our mood as it took us like 30 mins to straighten it out.

Nice place and atmosphere. Very fast sushi! I ordered four rolls to go and it was out to me in five minutes. I wasn't even halfway through my beer. This location does not offer fried rice but if you are having a stressful time running errands on an off day and wanna pop into a relaxing place for sushi and a beer then this is the place for you buddy.

I don't do karaoke. Well, I didn't do karaoke...sober. We went for a friends party where they rented the back karaoke room. We had a great time. Plenty of beer and sake. We ordered some sushi, which was good. Just a crunchy roll and vegetable roll to get a taste of the place since we were more in party mode. Then the wife and I ordered the beef ramen. The ramen was spicy and delicious. Well cooked beef and the noodles were fresh. It was very flavorful broth. I want to go back just for this.

I went to this location one day because I thought it was the same as the one farther towards the river on Carrollton, with the karaoke. I really could not see how the two places are related. This place sucked. They DIDN'T HAVE ANY SPICY FOOD what???? At the other location you choose between four levels of spiciniess. One friend ordered sushi and it sucked, and I ordered a really bland beef broth soup. Completely uninspired. What a let down. Never straying from uptown for my spicy noodle fix again!

My favorite sunday sushi spot. Always consistent. Staff is attentive. Parking is painless. Fish is fresh. I only go for the sushi. Not to say the Teppan is not good, I've had it, it's great. I just prefer sushi. They have some great rolls that make my mouth water. Saint Kick - Fried crabstick tempura, cream cheese and spicy tuna inside, Snowcrab on the top with bbq eel sauce. Chocolate City - Spicy tuna, snowcrab and avocado inside, wrapped with soybean paper. On top is Seared tuna and crunchy. Served with Chef special sauce and bbq eel sauce. Burning Man - Spicy tuna and crunchy inside, Pepper tuna and avocado on top with ponzu and bbq eel sauce. Burning Woman - Snowcrab inside, Pepper tuna and avocado on top with ponzu and bbq eel sauce. *One of my favorites. Utah Roll - Fried shrimp tempura, cream cheese inside. Snowcrab, fresh tuna and avocado with bbq eel sauce on top. Carrollton Special Roll - Snowcrab, mango, cream cheese, panko breaded shrimp and special sweet chilli sauce with seaweed paper and rice. Wrapped in cucumber. And the list goes on. Sit at the Sushi bar and do some Sake shots with the Chefs!

This little gem of a restaurant was quite a surprise. We did not do the hibachi but certainly will next time. Instead we tried the sushi bar and it was amazing. The special roll was lobster, which was quite tasty and we had a couple of others rolls as well. The "tacos" were also quite unique and worth trying. There is a trio of sake you can pick and choose in order to see what you like. The bartender Denny was very helpful and friendly, as well as knowledgable about the food. Great find. Thanks for reading.

We Haven't been to this Little Tokyo in years and wanted to give it another try and we won't be going back! We ordered a pick up order of all sushi and soup, when we got home we were missing a soup and the sushi rolls were smaller than the menu specified and they had forgotten to put the sauce on any of the rolls. I called to ask if we left a bag behind with our soup and sauces and they just said they forgot to give it to us. The guy on the phone was very unapologetic and just said next time we come in they would "help us out" whatever that means! There won't be a next! Small Rolls! Overpriced!! Everything tasted the same.... BLAND! Two thumbs down!!!! There are too many GOOD sushi restaurants in this town to waste our time going to Little Tokyo!

Love this place for various reasons: Easy parking On streetcar line if drinking is in the game plan Friendly attentive staff Great value Hibachi tables if you're into that Vegetarian options And some advice : Order less than you would at, say Wasabi or Sushi Brothers. The portions here are rather more than you'd expect. My personal favorite rolls are the asparagus tempora and the Chocolate City, which I order with no rice. Also, the kitchen seems to be able to not have a problem with custom orders, which is nice. Good place for a date, good place for a group.

Hibachi!!!!!!!!!!!! I had always seen this place, but never had the courage to enter. Having grown up in New Orleans I have memories of when this building was a Shoneys, so I've had a mental block about eating here, as if somehow I'd walk in and realize I'd been hoodwinked. Anyway onto the food.............the prices are a little high if you order something on the grill, that is until you see the production that goes into the preparation. We didn't get the sushi or any other non-griddle items. When you order from the hibachi menu, as you can imagine a chef comes out and cooks it right in front of you. They try to make the process as entertaining as possible (at least when we went they did). The chefs interact with the customers, they even incorporated our 3 year old into the show, which made her very happy. The food is great and definitely filling. We had leftovers for the next day. I'd definitely go back.

I need to explore the menu a little more extensively, but so far I like what I've tried. The seaweed salad and avocado rolls were good, but the scallop in the scallop roll was overcooked and tough. I don't know if that's how it's supposed to be but I definitely don't like tough scallops! LT also has a nice selection of $8 cocktails and sake. Next time I go back (because there will be a next time), I'll try some different rolls.

So many fun nights here! Sushi is good. Occasionally the hostess is rude & gives attitude. Tip: they don't take reservations unless it's for a private karaoke room.

Been here a while back, finally reviewed it.. Probably the best sushi around New Orleans, nice atmosphere, nice staff. My girlfriend orders sushi, I am more of an appetizer type of guy.. the beef tataki is pretty good as also the baked salmon, but the must get items here are the chef salad and the hamachi kama.. oh so good..

I came there for the hibachi several time, and their grill was delicious.except last time, the young hibachi chef cooked a burning salmon for me.i asked him for the medium, and the chef was unhappy to re-cook my salmon for me,he was unfriendly took my salmon from my plate without asking, and I understand it's grill but everything doesn't has to be burned.i know this is a hot business food place, which there always many people, but at least you'd better try to cook some good food for guests.the chest could left my salmon on the side, instead of through it at middle of the grill thing, and let it burned.please take this serious,I'm not going to challenge that but I don't know about other guests.

Surprised by this sushi place! How many ever rolls you usually order, cut that in half and then go from there. The rolls at this place are HUGE and delicious! Had leftovers (which never happens) and they were just as good the next day.

Little Tokyo completely exceeded my expectations! A friend and I popped in after a jog at City Park. I thought it would be more casual like the Little Tokyo Small Plates and Noodle bar, I didn't realize it was a fancy, white tablecloth place. In spite of our ragged attire, the hostess made us feel very welcome! She was so sweet and made us feel like VIPs, in spite of being dressed like bums! The food and service was excellent. We got the sake sampler and it was three little shots presented in a cute little wooden holder. Things like that just tickle me! I also got the fish broth, which was exactly the same as any Japanese restaurant I've ever eaten in. I got the Carrollton roll, which was shrimp, cream cheese, mango and cucumber. Very refreshing to enjoy after exercising! My friend got the Burning Woman roll and said it was the best sushi roll she's ever eaten! The rolls were reasonably priced. The sake sampler was a little pricey: $10 for 3 shot glasses, so about 3 ounces of sake. I could have gotten a full glass for $7. But it was a great way to try out new sake. The lychee and the pear were fantastic. The coconut was a little too strong for me. The waiter was very nice as well. Everyone working here seems like they genuinely enjoy working here and want you to have a good experience. Definitely want to try the hibachi next time. Great place!

I would steer clear of this restaurant at all costs. I contracted Hepatitis A from eating at this restaurant. Also, they have a huge problem with rodents and cockroaches here. Imagine what the kitchen is like. I was out of work for almost 2 weeks and lost 11 lbs from eating here. Go somewhere else.

One of the best sushi restaurants I have been to in New Orleans. The Bye Bye Katrina roll was visually stunning and very tasty. Their speciality rolls are huge, but even the small standard ones are done very well. Everything was fresh and they will do soy paper for a $1 charge.
